This map uses big data from the GDELT Project which monitors local media around the world and live-translates it from 65 languages, along with Google’s BigQuery and Carto mapping software to visualize stories about refugees and the cities they enter. Each dot represents a location of the story as well as the tone of the article mentioning “refugees and “cities.” Each dot provides detailed information about the event and a link to the online news article.
